1. Try to cut your square as perfectly square as possible - this will help keep the hole in the middle of your medallion small. (A hole in the middle is normal - I like it but some people prefer to cover it up with a small gem, etc. that you can purchase at craft stores.) 2. After each fold, make sure you crease the fold with a bone folder or something similar. This will help to make the folded squares fit together better once you begin gluing. Also, if you need to, trim the edges after folding to make your folded square even. 3. Make sure each square is the same way up when you finish each fold and when you begin gluing so that each section of your medallion will look the same. 4. I prefer to use a glue stick for gluing. I wouldn't recommend using a glue that was runny at all - I think you'd only end up with a big mess. You want a glue that is going to set quickly so you can glue all the pieces together at once...a glue stick is good for this. 5. Don't be discouraged if some tea bag folding instructions don't work out. I have tried some folds and the squares just don't fit together well or else it is just too much trouble to try and make them fit! Find a fold that you enjoy doing. I usually do the same two folds all the time :-) 6. When sizing your tile square - use these
measurements as a guide: 2.13-2.20 square will create a medallion for a 3" circle or area 2.50 square will create a medallion for a 3.5" circle or area |
